We’re excited to announce that Alpine Energy has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Australian Technologies Competition (ATC): the Clean Energy Award and the Disaster, Emergency and Risk Management Award.
From more than 240 applications, just 33 finalists have been selected across 11 categories, recognising Australian companies developing technology to address real-world challenges with the potential for global impact.
Australian Technologies Competition
For Alpine Energy, being recognised across two categories reflects the versatility at the heart of the MGEN® M40.
While MGEN is perhaps best known for its world-first vehicle-to-vehicle DC fast-charging capability, bringing charging directly to stranded EVs, its potential extends well beyond roadside assistance.
As a mobile, grid-forming microgrid, MGEN can take energy into locations where the grid is unavailable, constrained or disrupted. In a disaster or emergency response scenario, that means mobile power can be deployed to support vehicles, equipment and essential operations when fixed infrastructure cannot be relied upon.
That same mobility also addresses a broader challenge facing Australia’s energy transition. Building permanent charging infrastructure across a vast country takes time
and can be constrained by grid capacity, connection requirements, civil works and the economics of servicing lower-utilisation locations.
MGEN offers a complementary approach. Instead of relying solely on permanent infrastructure being available everywhere it may be needed, mobile energy can be deployed to meet demand where and when it emerges.
Being recognised in both Clean Energy and Disaster, Emergency and Risk Management is an exciting milestone for our team and reinforces the potential for Australian-made technology to solve challenges at home and internationally.
The next stage of the competition will see Alpine Energy take to the stage at the ATC Live Pitches on 15 September, alongside some of Australia’s most promising technology companies. We’re looking forward to sharing the MGEN story and demonstrating how versatile, mobile energy infrastructure can support a cleaner and more resilient energy future.
